Competitive Analysis

Why We Lose
Raching Sales

Price is locked at parity across the entire dealer network, so the auction is being won somewhere else. This is where. Sales tax, freight, financing, reviews and cancellation terms, measured side by side on the same cabinet, and checked against 90 days of your own sales.

The Short Answer

You Are Matched on Price and Beaten on Everything Else

Nine of the eleven Raching models you advertise are priced identically to the dollar at every competitor, including the manufacturer. That means no shopper is choosing on sticker price. They are choosing on the four things below, and on each one you are currently behind.
69%
Of your revenue pays no sales tax at all, confirmed in your own Shopify data. Your competitors advertise this. You never mention it.
$620
The gift bundle Northwoods attaches to the same unit. Freight, a year of Cigar Aficionado, and a steel cigar stand.
2 vs 12
Your review count on the MON2800A against Northwoods. You hold 726 reviews sitewide and show almost none where it matters.
20%
Your cancellation fee after 48 hours. DadsHeaven charges 6%. On a $3,399 order that is $680 of risk versus $204.
Every figure on this page was captured live from each competitor's own product pages and published policies on August 6 2026.

DadsHeaven wins on money and speed: no tax messaging, Affirm, a projected ship date, and a cancellation fee a third of yours. Northwoods wins on trust and generosity: 3,000 reviews at 4.9, a certified tobacconist, and $620 of gifts. You are not losing to one competitor. You are losing to two different plays.

The encouraging read is that you already hold the assets. You have live chat, a staffed phone line, 726 reviews, 30 day returns and a genuine tax advantage. Almost nothing on this page requires buying anything. It requires saying what is already true.
Section 03

Same Sticker. Different Checkout.

The MON2800A lists at $3,399 everywhere. What the shopper believes they will part with diverges sharply, because two competitors state their tax position on the page and you do not. Your actual checkout is competitive. Your advertised checkout is not.

Gifts are freight handling, 12 months of Cigar Aficionado and a steel cigar stand. No returns above $399.
On identical sticker price, the perceived spread between you and Northwoods is roughly $875. None of it is a discount. All of it is merchandising.
Your own numbers settle this
Across 90 days you collected $11,398 of tax on $490,901 of net sales. That is a blended 2.32%. At a normal 7.5% rate the figure would be roughly $36,800.

Which means about 69% of your revenue pays no sales tax whatsoever. On the Raching line specifically, the RR980, MON2800A, SD800 and MA50 all recorded zero tax across the period.
And you say none of it
The word "tax" appears on your site only inside the extended warranty terms. DadsHeaven puts "No Sales Tax added at Checkout" in the header of every page and again as a badge on every product.

You hold the same advantage on most orders. They are the only ones being paid for it.
Tax modelled at 7.5% of list, close to the US combined average. Actual tax collected is from the Shopify "Total sales by product" export covering May 8 to August 6 2026.
Section 04

Your Reviews Exist. They Are Just Not On The Page.

This is the most fixable gap in the report. You have real, strong social proof. It is sitting on a reviews page instead of on the cabinets that cost four thousand dollars.

The problem is distribution, not volume
You hold 726 reviews at 4.67 stars, a genuinely competitive asset. But the MON2800A page shows 2. Your best selling cabinet shows 6. The proof is real and it is invisible at the moment of decision.
And none of it reaches Google
None of the three dealers publish aggregateRating structured data on these pages, so nobody earns review stars in search results. With 726 reviews already collected, you are the one best placed to take that ground unopposed.
Section 05

The Cancellation Fee Is Doing Real Damage

A shopper spending three to eight thousand dollars on a cabinet they have never seen reads the returns policy before they buy. Yours asks them to accept more risk than anyone else in the auction.

Where you lose
A 20% fee is more than triple the nearest competitor. On a $3,399 cabinet that is $680. On the RR980 at $8,090 it is $1,618. The policy also justifies itself with "since we keep our prices so low", which is not true under MAP and is checkable in one click.
Where you already win
Northwoods refuses all returns over $399, which covers every Raching cabinet they sell. Your 30 day money back guarantee is genuinely stronger. It is buried while their gift bundle is not.
What DadsHeaven does better
They verify stock before capturing payment and say so in the policy. On preorder inventory that removes the single biggest fear in the category, which is money taken for a cabinet that never ships.
Section 06

Nobody Wants to Move 260 Pounds Alone

The MON2800A ships at roughly 260 lbs. How it reaches the door is a genuine purchase objection, and it is answered clearly by both competitors and not at all by you.
Elegant Bar
"All orders are shipped with curbside delivery unless listed on the product page that it is shipped with White Glove Service." The MON2800A page does not list white glove. No liftgate is mentioned anywhere, which leaves a quarter ton cabinet on the kerb.
DadsHeaven
States plainly that the item is "delivered using curbside pickup with included liftgate service". Same service level as yours, described in a way that removes the fear instead of creating it.
Northwoods
Brands the whole thing as "Worry Free Freight Delivery", counts it inside the $620 gift bundle, and adds "pre inspected and securely packaged". Identical logistics, sold as a benefit.
All three ship the same cabinet on the same freight networks. Only one of them describes it in a way that loses the sale.

Pricing Recap and the Two Real Gaps

Full detail sits in the August 5 pricing report. In short: parity almost everywhere, two models mispriced, and one stockout on your highest demand cabinet.

C150A is clearance stock, priced as a hero
You price the C150A above your own larger C230A at $1,999. The 150 litre cabinet cannot cost more than the 230 litre. Northwoods has it at $1,399. It has also sold zero units in 90 days and is off Raching's current lineup. Price it to clear and stop advertising it.
MON1800A is your top model and it is out of stock
183 impressions, 23 clicks, $94 spent. Both $2,999 standard variants are unavailable. Competitors have the same price in stock. You are paying to advertise a variant nobody can buy.
Section 08

What You Already Own

The picture is not one sided. Six positions are genuinely yours, and most of them are currently under communicated rather than missing.
CS600 · a proven seller nobody else has
Your second best Raching at $19,554 across 5 units. No competitor in this auction carries it. It does not even appear on Raching's own site. And it has zero ad coverage, because no shopper knows to search "CS600".

This is the clearest opportunity in the report: a cabinet that sells itself, with no price competition and no auction to lose. It needs category and feature targeting, not model targeting.
Five more you should be shouting about
No sales tax for 69% of orders · Real, measured, and never once mentioned on the site.

30 day money back · Northwoods refuses returns over $399, which covers every Raching cabinet they sell. Yours are returnable.

726 reviews at 4.67 · Real proof, invisible on the pages that matter.

Chatra live chat and a staffed line on 888 501 3227 · You already answer the phone. Northwoods turns that into "chat for our lowest price". You use it for support.

In stock now · DadsHeaven's Raching line is largely preorder to late August.

What To Fix, In Order

Ranked by impact against spend already flowing through this campaign. Most of these are not new investment. They are statements of things that are already true and currently go unsaid.
  1. Say "no sales tax" on every page. Your own data confirms 69% of revenue is untaxed, and several Raching cabinets recorded zero tax outright. This is worth roughly $255 on a $3,399 order, it is already true, and it costs nothing to state. DadsHeaven puts it in the header and gets paid for an advantage you also have.
  2. Resolve the MON3800A question. Raching's own site now lists only the MON3800B and both competitors carry it at $4,269. Your A has not sold in 90 days but is still drawing 111 searches. Confirm which is live and we swap the listing rather than pause the demand. See the final section.
  3. Cut the cancellation fee from 20% to single digits. More than triple the nearest competitor, the most punitive term in the auction, and the justification about low prices is disprovable in one click under MAP.
  4. Put your reviews on the cabinet pages. You hold 726 at 4.67. The MON2800A shows 2. Syndicate sitewide reviews onto product pages and add aggregateRating structured data, which nobody in this auction currently publishes.
  5. Restock the MON1800A at $2,999. Highest demand model in the campaign, price parity, and the advertised entry variant is unbuyable in both colors. It has sold one unit in 90 days against 183 impressions.
  6. Say liftgate, or say white glove. The cabinet is 260 lbs and your policy currently reads as "left at the kerb". Both competitors describe identical logistics as a benefit.
  7. Reprice the C150A to roughly $1,499. It sits 57% over Northwoods and above your own larger C230A, which is indefensible on any comparison. Whether it stays in the ads depends on the stock answer in the final section, but the price is wrong either way.
  8. Build a bundle to answer Northwoods. They attach $620 of perceived value for what is largely freight they were paying anyway. A starter kit of cedar trays, hygrometer and solution would close most of that gap at a fraction of the cost.
  9. Put the chat and the phone line to work on price. You already run Chatra and staff 888 501 3227, so the tooling is there. Northwoods converts the same asset with "click the chat for our lowest price", which is how they negotiate under MAP without publishing a lower number. Yours currently reads as support only.
  10. Answer the four questions in the final section so we can rebuild the campaign around what is actually current. Nothing will be paused before then, because all but two models still carry live search demand.
Method. Search terms pulled from Google Ads for campaign ED | Search | Raching Humidors, covering May 8 to August 6 2026, within which the campaign was live from its launch on July 14 2026. At 24 days live and $1,002 of spend, model level conclusions are directional rather than settled. Competitor prices, policies, review counts and on page messaging captured live on August 4 and August 6 2026 from each retailer's own product pages, published policy pages and product feeds, plus Amazon product pages. Sales, units and tax collected come from the Shopify "Total sales by product" export for May 8 to August 6 2026. Model currency checked against Raching's own storefront collections and trade coverage of the 2026 launches. All price comparisons use the Raching MON2800A at $3,399 unless stated.

Note on windows. Ad figures span the full campaign history while sales span 90 days, so the two are directional rather than a like for like ratio.

Raw catalogs, policy captures, the Shopify export and the comparison scripts are stored at weekly-opt/elegantbar/data/raching-price-comparison/. The August 5 pricing only report remains at 2026-08-05-raching-price-comparison.html.

Which Models Do We Push, and Which Do We Pull?

This is the one part of the report we cannot answer from the outside. We can see what people search and what has sold, but you know what Raching is actually pushing, what is being discontinued, and what you can still get stock on. Before we touch the campaign, we would like your read on the table below.

Read this before pausing anything
The campaign has been live 24 days. The sales figures cover 90 days. A model showing zero sales has not necessarily been failed by the ads, because for two thirds of that sales window the ads were not running at all.

That is exactly why we are asking rather than acting. We do not want to pause a model that still has live search demand, and several of the quiet sellers are still being searched every week.

Searches, clicks and spend cover May 8 to August 6 2026, within which the campaign was live from July 14. Units and revenue cover the full May 8 to August 6 window. Nothing here has been paused or changed.
Four questions we need answered
  1. Has the MON3800A been replaced by the MON3800B? Raching's own site now lists only the B, and both competitors stock it at $4,269. We carry only the A, it has not sold in 90 days, and it is drawing 111 searches. If the B is the live model we would swap the listing rather than pause the demand.
  2. Are the C150A and C230A still available to order? Neither appears in Raching's current C series collection, which now shows only the MA50, C330A, C380A and CD1200. Both are still being searched, so if they are clearance we would price them to move rather than stop advertising them.
  3. What is the real status of the Dark Matter and Amber series? Trade coverage says Dark Matter (DM50, DM52, DM56, DM58) replaces the C series, with an Amber series (A6, A7) alongside it and shipping promised from June. As of today no dealer in this auction stocks either, and neither appears in Raching's own catalog. We are already paying for 15 searches a month on "raching dark matter" and sending those people to a page that does not exist. If you can secure allocation we would build the pages now and be first to list.
  4. Is the CS600 a current, repeatable SKU? It is your second best Raching seller at $19,554, no competitor carries it, and it does not appear on Raching's own site. Before we build campaigns around it we want to be sure it is not a one off allocation or a private label run.
Send back a push, hold or pull against each row and we will rebuild the campaign around it. Until then nothing gets paused, because every model on that list except two is still being searched.
